Sachem alum Jumbo Elliott didn’t get his call to the College Football Hall of Fame this year, but I did attend the inductee announcement conference in New York City.

The event was held at NASDAQ, where Sachem alum Bob Greifeld is CEO. Inductees included Jimmy Johnson, Steve Bartkowski, Art Monk, Phillip Fulmer and others.

A new book by Joe Garner and Bob Costas, “100 Yards of Glory: The Greatest Moments in NFL History” features the Monday Night Miracle as one of the top comebacks of all-time. In October 2000 Sachem alum Jumbo Elliott caught a touchdown pass from Vinny Testaverde for the Jets to beat the Dolphins.

That play is discussed in detail and a photo of Jumbo from his Sachem days, which I supplied, is proudly displayed in the video feature of the book on the attached DVD. My name appears in the credits.

The Press Club of Long Island is a chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
