The Hofstra chapter of PRSSA invited me to speak on a panel titled “Meet the Media” at their conference “Back to Basics” this month. We spoke about trends in media and how it directly affects the public relations world. The intimate crowd allowed for engaging and information discussion about the topic.

Sachem Patch earned four awards at Thursday night’s Press Club of Long Island Media Awards dinner.

The Press Club of Long Island is a chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The following awards were won:

• First Place, Online Feature … Howard Stern’s Sal Governale fond of his days clowning around Sachem
• Second Place, Online Feature …Holbrook’s tragic train crash remembered
• Second Place, Online Sports … Jumbo Elliott is larger than life
• ?Second Place, Online News Blog … “Inside the Arrows“

Patch.com won third place overall in the best news site voting.

Sachem Patch editor Chris R. Vaccaro was also elected as a board member of the Press Club.

Chris Vaccaro appears on this year’s PCLI Award Finalists list for the second straight year.

Among the articles that made the finalist list are:
