Long Island native Rob Pannel was selected as a Pre-Season Player of the Year for Lacrosse Magazine in 2012.
In a feature story in Lacrosse Magazine about his career, Pannell spoke about how he is never satisfied, which dates back to his days in high school where he was cut from varsity as a freshman, similar to Michael Jordan’s saga.

Hofstra University was host to the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals this year. The two games were packed with interesting story lines. No. 6 Denver upset No. 3 Hopkins and No. 7 Virginia did the same to No. 2 Cornell.
It was a historic day as Virginia head coach Dom Starsia captured career win No. 327 making him the winningest head coach in Division I men’s lacrosse history.
Hofstra also set an attendance record for James M. Shuart Stadium with 13,447 spectators.
